Children with flat feet are very common. It’s a very common referral from pediatricians to my office as to what to do with kids who have flat feet. Does every flatfoot need to be treated? Not always, but every flat foot in children should be looked at because we do not know if it’s going to turn into a problem when they grow into an adult. We look at the parents, at the grandparents and see if they had flat feet and if they had problems. If they did, then it’s a good idea to give the child some treatment, or at least keep a close eye on how to take care of them.
We manage flatfoot pain conservatively with shoe gear, orthotics, exercises, to help them walk better, pain free. If you or a loved one have flat feet, come into our office. Let me examine you and decide if something needs to be done and we’ll be happy to take care of you.
