Why Do I Have Pain When I Curl My Toes?

Comments (0)

Pain When Curling ToesThere are several aches and pains that can afflict a runner and they sometimes appear in toes. If you have pain when you curl your toes it could be due to a condition called extensor tendonitis. The extensor tendons help straighten your toes and they run along the top of your foot. When they become irritated and inflamed, it can hurt to curl your toes downward.

Wearing shoes that do not fit your feet well or that are laced too tightly can cause pressure on your feet and lead to this condition. For runners, hill running is often what leads to this toe problem. The way your feet have to work when going up or down a hill can affect the tendons on top of your toes. Rest will be your first line of defense, followed by a change of shoes.

If neither of these relieves your toe pain, contact Family Foot Care & Surgery. Dr. Sanjay Patel can find the cause of your pain and get you started on the right treatment quickly. Even minor toe pain can cause a hiccup in your life so don’t wait to call. Make an appointment at our office in Milford, CT by calling (203) 876-7736 or in Hamden, CT by calling (203) 288-4055.
